The Nightclub Owners Forum (NOF) has thrown its weight behind the Australian Sex Party in the upcoming Federal and State Elections.
According to prominent Melbourne nightclub owner, Peter Iwaniuk, the Labor Party, particularly in Victoria, has shown itself to be over regulating and not supportive of the legitimate rights of adults to socialise in venues of their choice.
“The Brumby Government in fact has openly declared war on the late night entertainment industry through botched attempts at lockouts, exorbitantly raising licence fees, openly intimidating responsible venue operators and stifling new investment. At the same time, they have demonstrated an abject failure to provide adequate support services in the form of police, public transport and other infrastructure” said Mr Iwaniuk.
“Labor needs to be sent a message that we do not want our policies to be dictated by religious minorities, wowsers and special interest groups”
“Governments in fact have a core responsibility to ensure that the public has access to a diverse range of socialisation options that are culturally relevant – it is fundamental to protecting individual rights, mental health and promoting community cohesion.
“The NOF will actively support the Sex Party candidates through billboards [ see sample below ] and circulation of messages and advertising material through its extensive network of stakeholders and patrons” added Mr Iwaniuk.
Convenor of the Australian Sex Party, Fiona Patten, has welcomed the support of the Nightclub Owners Forum. According to Ms Patten “the party is a political response to the sexual needs of Australia in the 21st century. It is an attempt to restore the balance between sexual privacy and sexual publicity that has been severely distorted by morals campaigners and prudish politicians.
“Tolerance of sexual free speech and sexual expression is one of the main hallmarks of free and democratic nations. Intolerance of these qualities is one of the hallmarks of autocracies, dictatorships and theocracies.
“The vast majority of Australians are relaxed and tolerant of a broad spectrum of sexual expression but state and federal governments have increasingly ignored this demographic and pursued policies and legislation that have restricted sexual free speech and expression – often under threat of large fines and even jail sentences.
“The Sex Party is fed up with wowserism in Australian parliaments. It is frustrated by the lip service paid to gender equality and sexual identity by the major parties when real and meaningful law reform stalls on factionalism and behind the scenes handshakes with religious leaders” concluded Ms Patten
The Australian Sex Party has recently released a set of ads ahead of the anticipated Federal Election on August 28.
Created by Bret Treasure of WA-based web marketing consultancy Free Beer, the aim of the campaign is to remind voters that it doesn¹t matter who they tell friends they’re voting for as their ballot is private.
Treasure is himself a candidate.

Dear Victorian Members,
HUGE thanks to everyone who has replied to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) confirming that they are a member of the Australian Sex Party. This is so important!
I'm so sorry to keep on about this but so far the VEC DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH RESPONSES to register our branch in Victoria. We have around 900 hundred registed members in Victoria but if we don't have at least 500 letters returned to the VEC by THIS FRIDAY we won't be able to run under our party name in the Victorian State Election this November. We will have to wait six months before we can apply again for registration which means you will NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE 1 SEX in Victoria for another 4 Years! None of us want to let this happen... So.... * if you have received a letter from the VEC asking you to confirm your membership, please, if you havent already done so, return it to the VEC in the replay paid envelope BEFORE Friday the 30th of July.
* If you HAVENT received a letter from the VEC please contact them to let them know you are a proud Australian Sex Party member. Their contact details are:

Hugh Hefner almost died having sex.
The 83-year-old Playboy publisher - who is currently dating Crystal Harris and twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon - choked on a sex toy while in bed with a group of his girlfriends.
He said: "What is the closest I've come to death? There was a moment when I was having sex with four Playmates and I almost swallowed a Ben Wa ball." The media mogul also revealed he prefers to spend most of his time in bed, doing as many activities as possible there.
He added: "My most treasured possession is my rotating round bed. "I don't have dinner parties - I eat my dinner in bed. I relax with my girls in bed, just watching a movie and having a good time. "If I had to dress up in fancy dress, I'd wear my pyjamas."
However, Hugh admits the aging process is starting to affect his sleep patterns.
"I need to go to the toilet several times a night - that comes with age," he said.
